Atelier Frédéric Back Inc. announces a cross-Canada poster contest! Create a poster with a clear message showing your personal commitment to protecting the environment!
Urge others to join with you in small everyday actions with the same vigilance and openness of spirit as The Man Who Planted Trees.

First, second and third prizes will be awarded by a jury for each category:
10-14 and 15-18 years
Deadline for submissions is March 1, 2011, at 5:00 pm.


1rst prize: a lap-top computer valued $1,400
2nd prize: a fine-art print from the film The Man Who Planted Trees valued at $250
3rd prize: a set of DVDs of the films of Frédéric Back valued at $38.00

A tree will be planted in the commemorative forest of The Man Who Planted Trees in Laval, Québec in the name of every participant in the contest.

CONTEST RULES:

SECTION 1: SUBJECT

Create a poster with a clear message showing your personal commitment to protecting the environment! Your poster should encourage others to follow your example and, each in a small way, take constructive action.

Contestants can give free rein to their imagination and use any techniques and materials: drawing, painting, colouring, collage, photography, computer-generated images.

The poster must be two-dimensional (flat surface); submissions in three dimensions will not be considered. Contestants must respect this format: 50 cm wide X 70 cm high for the original poster.

How to submit your poster:
The poster must be photographed or digitised in a readable JPEG format at a minimum resolution of 72 DPI. Unclear or low-resolution images will be rejected.

SECTION 2: REGISTRATION AND PROCEDURE FOR THE CONTEST

Incomplete registrations will not be considered.

Posters received after the deadline for receipt will not be considered.

Beginning of the contest:
The contest begins on November 15, 2010.

End of the contest:
Posters must be received electronically no later than March 1, 2011, 5:00 pm.

Rejection criterion:
Non-respect of the subject.

Calendar and announcement of winners:
Winners will be announced on April 3, 2011, 5:00pm on the Web site.

Prizes:

Copyright–Publication:
Contestants and winners agree to the publication of their posters on our Web site.
All contestants surrender rights of use without restriction in time or territory for presentation of their posters on our Web site.

SECTION 3: SELECTION

Jury:
The jury will consist of five members. It will be chaired by Frédéric Back.
It will include both well-known Francophones and Anglophones.

Selection criteria:
- Presentation and originality in visual creation
- Effectiveness and originality of the message

SECTION 4: CANCELLATION

In the event of circumstances beyond its control, the organiser retains the right to cancel the contest at any time and without notice.

Acknowledgement of receipt will be sent electronically for every valid submission.
